Our Story
Taskeen — تسکین — is an Urdu word meaning comfort, solace, peace of mind. We chose it because that is exactly what we work to bring to the communities of the Karakoram.
Founded in 2022, Taskeen was built on a simple belief: that comfort shouldn’t depend on how remote your village is. We work exclusively in the mountainous north of Pakistan, in Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan — partnering with local communities and government health workers rather than working around them.
Where We Work
Our projects are based in Nagar Valley, in the heart of the Karakoram — a region surrounded by some of the highest peaks on Earth. We currently work across five townships: Shayar, Askurdas, Sumayar, Nagar Khaas, and Hoper, as well as in Thole, Nagar Khaas, home of our computer lab project.
These are communities where the nearest properly equipped hospital is a two-hour journey away and digital access is nearly nonexistent — and where a small, committed organization can make an outsized difference.
How We Work
We don’t parachute in. Our medicine distribution runs in direct collaboration with government-run hospitals, Medical Officers, and dispensers, with a detailed patient log kept for every distribution — so the people we serve and the partners we work with can both trust the process.
Our infrastructure projects are built with and for the community. The Thole computer lab was dug, built, and furnished by local hands, with desks made by carpenters in the valley itself. When a community builds something together, they own it together — and it lasts.

Our Team
Taskeen is run by a small, hands-on team with deep roots in Nagar Valley. We don’t manage projects from a distance — we dig foundations, stock medicine cabinets, and sit across the table from the patients and students we serve.
